Baseball and Builders

When you consider the United Kingdom, baseball and construction seem like an odd match. If you’re a builder in America, it makes sense to be a baseball lover, but in the UK, you’re supposed to be a multi-sport enthusiast, including a supporter of rugby or football.

In fact, if you are a builder in the UK, many would accept you as an American Football fan. Yet, baseball is regarded as kind of a false sport in England, one that you shouldn’t take seriously. In England, if there is no physical contact, it is not regarded as a sport at all.

Yet, a few of us on the site who are aficionados of the sport frequently discuss it, and I believe we like it more than they do football or rugby. They typically have something to complain about or constantly have something they detest. But, whenever we gather and discuss baseball, we always seem to be upbeat. We frequently discuss sports and always have positive things to say about both the players on the teams we support and the guys on opposing squads.

I also enjoy my work a lot. I am aware that baseball is not construction, but many carpenters in London have a tendency to enjoy other sports. We can all agree, though, that staring into a vanity mirror large in size while trying to defend our teams is equally as entertaining as watching sports itself. We laugh a lot, and I must admit that I appreciate how much hand use there is. We are continuously moving, which is wonderful strangely enough.

Most of the time we feel stronger for all the hard lifting. Although many people detest that kind of work, I suppose that is why so many of us gravitate towards it.
