One of my favourite pieces of “furniture” for lofts isn’t actually furniture, but it serves the same purpose as any other piece of furniture. It is a crucial component of any loft conversion as well as any other room in your house. The difference between a decent loft and an incredible loft is what a good window can achieve for your loft. Skylights, Velux windows, or any other kind of window can significantly alter how your loft appears and how much light can enter your room.
If you want to have as much natural light as possible in your loft conversion, a big skylight is a must-have. Natural light is essential for giving your home a stunning appearance, but it can be problematic in the UK. Because of the way natural light appears in your home it may appear dark and even dreary. Even in the summer, when the weather should be ideal, it might still be cloudy and rainy. I’m positive I’ve seen fog during the height of summer on occasion. Even if it’s not the best, some people adore it.
Personally, I enjoy seeing the rain fall through a skylight. It’s fun to watch the raindrops come down from below because I’ve always enjoyed the rain. Yet, viewing lightning storms through a skylight is even cooler. One of the highlights of my life was being able to see every lightning strike go across the sky and connect to other clouds or bolts while seeing a lightning storm that lasted for four or five hours.
Although I am aware that not everyone prefers skylights, a lady had a loft conversion so she could store her valuable paintings and even had storage for her jewellery, that included a gold cross necklace draped on an altar.
However, if you love the outdoors and need light, I would strongly advise installing one. When you can regularly see the sky and the stars, it transforms your perspective on the world.
